Description
This model features the new and advanced backrest system which provides additional comfort for the user. Further, this model has been designed around 27.5cm tubes which provides an optimal mix between agility, stability and buoyancy. It has a slightly upturned bow to aid lift in white water and an enlarged stern to assist when launching down the downside of waves.
Whilst this craft is designed with white water in mind, like the rest of the MRS range and unlike many packrafts on the market today, the MRS Alligator 2S Pro has a skeg which aids tracking. Together with a relatively long waterline provides this packraft with decent paddling speed and acceleration, meaning it is very versatile and also suitable as an expedition/touring packraft.
The spray deck on the MRS Alligator 2S Pro is fully sealed and non-removable which makes it nearly 100% waterproof when combined with the supplied spray skirt. As this model is aimed at serious packrafters, including professionals, this reflects the hardcore design which underpins this product. Other models in the MRS range use a removable spray deck such as the Microraft and Nomad models.
With an inner length of 131cm, the MRS Alligator 2S Pro is suited to people up to around 190cm in height, whilst the snug 32cm inner width is ideal to ensure the paddlers movements directly translate into the movement of the packraft. An XXL is available for taller paddlers,
Internal Storage System (ISS)
The ISS is an optional extra on much of the MRS packraft range, but comes as standard with the MRS Alligator 2S Pro. ISS is a fantastic feature, which essentially allows you to store soft items within the tubes of the packraft, saving space within the packraft. Gear can be stored inside the provided 2 x large drybags then placed inside the tubes via the waterproof/airtight zip – suitable for all kinds of soft items like spare coats, clothes, shoes, sleeping bags etc.
MRS use TiZips top zipper, the Masterseal 10 which has a pressure resistance up to 500mbar. Other than keeping your gear out of the way and dry, the ISS also helps to lower the centre of gravity within the craft thereby enhancing stability. Of course, any gear you put into the ISS cannot be accessed until you are able to deflate the packraft.
Usefully, the MRS Alligator Pro is available in standard size, suitable for paddlers up to 190cm, and a larger XXL version for taller persons.
